With the rising number of covid patients in the month of October private hospitals in Kolkata that have earlier refused to admit covid patients with mild symptoms are now admitting all the patients who are being tested as positive. This is one of the reasons that have further prevented falls in the number of covid admissions.
During the month of April and May, there was an acute scarcity that has forced several hospitals to even refuse severe patients and arrange proper medical supervision at home.
Peerless Hospital that had 31 covid patients, has seen the number increasing from 25 to 35 in mid October. In Belle Vue clinic, patients with symptoms were admitted to the outpatient department. As per the Belle Vue CEO, P Tandon; the psychological impact of covid has left several families very scared, therefore they are not taking any further chances and are preparing hospitalization of patients with mild symptoms.
R.N Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences has also advised patients with mild covid symptoms to get admitted immediately, instead of taking home isolation. As per the zonal head, it has been reported that if the patient is convinced that they can take proper home care, then they are advised to stay at home or else get admitted to the hospital with better health amenities.
